Year 6 Homefront'40 Workshop

During the Spring Term, Year 6 will be learning all about World War Two. To support our learning, we will be taking part in a History Off the Page – Operation Pied Piper workshop, which will take place in school. We have planned a full and exciting day for the children, which we are sure they will enjoy.

In order for this workshop to go ahead, we ask for a payment of £16.05 per child, which covers the cost of the full-day session. The workshop will run from 9:00 am to 2:40 pm. Please give permission and make payment for this workshop via ParentMail by Friday 19th December 2025. If insufficient contributions are received, we may have to cancel the visit.

Please indicate below if you are able to help at this workshop for the afternoon session only between (1:00 pm - 2:40 pm). We will only need helpers for the afternoon sessions. Please note: Volunteers will be required to sign an agreement stating that mobile phones will only be used in an emergency and that no photographs will be taken or posted on social media.

Children are welcome to dress up for the day. To help them feel like evacuees from the time period, we encourage simple costumes. These do not need to be fancy—items you already have at home will be perfectly suitable. Suggested clothing includes:

Girls’ Costume

  • Shirt: A collared shirt with a tie, if possible.
  • Jumper: Grey or other dull colours are appropriate.
  • Dress: A dark skirt or pinafore dress.
  • Footwear: Socks and black or brown shoes, if possible. (Preferably not trainers.)

Boys’ Costume

  • Shirt: A collared shirt with a tie, if possible.
  • Jumper: Grey or other dull colours are appropriate.
  • Shorts: These should be dark (sports shorts would be fine.)
  • Footwear: Socks and black or brown shoes, if possible. (Preferably not trainers.)

We are very much looking forward to this experience and are sure the children will have a fantastic day.
