OUR CARE HOME NEEDS YOU! Northbourne Court Care Home
Do you have a couple of hours to spare each week or fortnight on a regular basis? We are looking to build a team of lovely volunteers who can befriend our residents.
Are you a caring and nurturing person? Do you like listening to people’s stories? Can you spend time with an elderly person, talking or reading with them, doing crosswords or puzzles or hand massages?
Can you spend time painting a resident’s nails or sharing photo’s, can you knit or talk another language to teach basic words? Do you have a child or a pet you would like to bring in with you to bring bigger smiles to a resident’s face? Can you help residents write letters to their families?
The above activities are just a few examples of how a volunteer can help, there are plenty more and you may have your own ideas.
Just an hour or two on a regular basis would make a world of difference, so our residents can look forward to your next visit. Even if all you can do is have a weekly cup of tea with a nice friendly smile and lots of chat.
This will be both rewarding for both you and our residents. We want to give them as much opportunity to meet other ages and learn new things. Anything, however big or small you think it is will have an enormous effect.
Understandably, you will need to fill out a volunteer application form and complete a DBS check which we will pay for and undertake a little training if required. At present we are testing for Covid for visitors in the home, but as you know this is changing all the time.
Northbourne Court is a large Care Home in Harland Avenue, Sidcup, DA15 7NU.
If this is something you would be interested in please pop in and collect an application form which will be on our reception desk.
We look forward to meeting you.
