Dulverton Primary School

Safeguarding & Child Protection

Dulverton Primary School, as a Rights Respecting School, is committed to raising children’s awareness of their rights under the UN Human Rights Charter and to promoting these rights and values across our whole school community. We are committed to practices that protect children from harm, and all staff and volunteers recognise their responsibility to safeguard children and to promote their welfare. The safety and protection of children is of paramount importance and we strive to maintain a strong culture of vigilance in which the best interests of every child always come first.

We believe that all children have the right to feel safe. We ensure clear safeguarding arrangements are in place through high-quality teaching and learning, strong pastoral care, ongoing staff training and effective partnership with parents. Safeguarding is taught explicitly to all pupils.

We are dedicated to maintaining a safe environment at all times by identifying potential risks and addressing concerns promptly. We actively seek pupils’ views on how to improve safeguarding and use this feedback to make ongoing improvements.

Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Leaders (DSLs):

Mrs K Herbert - Designated Safeguard Lead

Mrs C Robson - Deputy Safeguard Lead

Miss S Beale - Deputy Safeguard Lead

Miss E Little - Deputy Safeguard Lead

The school uses an internal system, CPOMS, to ensure any concerns are carefully and confidentially recorded, that the appropriate information is shared with staff responsible and that DSLs consult with parents and carers actively.
